30 Amp vs. 50 Amp: Which Do You Need?

Here is the short version: most smaller travel trailers and older rigs run fine on 30 amp. If you have a large fifth wheel, a Class A diesel pusher, or any rig with two air conditioners, you almost certainly need 50 amp. Running a 50 amp rig on 30 amp service works in a pinch with an adapter, but you will have to manage your power draw carefully in the Texas heat.

For snowbirds and long-haul travelers who like to stay put for a while, Victoria is close enough to the coast, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi that day trips in any direction are easy.
The Park Itself
The sites are well-maintained and the grounds have good tree cover, which matters in South Texas from April through October. There is a gathering area with benches and a propane fire pit that tends to become a social spot in the evenings. The park is managed on-site, so if something goes wrong with your hookup or you have a question, you are not calling a voicemail.
The dog park is leash-free and gives pets room to run, which is a bigger deal than it sounds after a long travel day. The clubhouse has showers, a commercial kitchen, a big screen TV, a treadmill, and seating for large groups. Coin-op laundry is on site as well.
Where Victoria Puts You
Victoria sits at the intersection of Highways 87, 59, and 77, which is why a lot of RVers pass through here and why many end up staying longer than planned. If you are routing between San Antonio and the Texas Gulf Coast, Victoria is almost exactly in the middle. Port Lavaca and Matagorda Bay are about 35 miles east. Cuero, Yoakum, and Goliad are all within 40 miles. San Antonio is about 120 miles northwest.
The highway access also means the practical stuff is close. Fuel, grocery stores, hardware stores, auto parts, and a Walmart are all within a few miles of the park.
Rates
Monthly sites are available at two rate levels. The all-inclusive option is $550 per month and covers electric, water, sewer, and Wi-Fi in a single flat ratem no meter reading, no end-of-month surprises. If you run the AC hard through a Texas summer, this is the predictable option.
The second option starts at $375 per month and includes water, sewer, and Wi-Fi. Electric is available at these sites and billed separately based on your actual usage at 13 cents per kilowatt hour. For guests who are energy-conscious or spending a lot of time away from the rig, this rate can work out to less than the flat option.
