Exploring Hallettsville, TX From Dad’s RV Park

Hallettsville is about 55 miles north of Dad’s RV Park on US 77. The town was founded in 1831 and built by Czech and German families. It fills up for festivals and tournaments throughout the year. Book a site in Victoria for the weekend and drive up for the events.

Lavaca County Courthouse

The courthouse was built from 1897 to 1899 in the Richardsonian Romanesque style, and architect Eugene T. Heiner designed it. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971, and it anchors the downtown square.

Texas State Championship Domino Tournament

This January tournament began in 1954 as a fundraiser for Sacred Heart High School athletics. A 42 tournament follows in March. The Texas Domino Hall of Fame, which started inducting players in 1990, is displayed at the Knights of Columbus hall.

Kolache Fest and Fiddlers Frolics

Kolache Fest is held on the last weekend of September and celebrates the town’s Czech roots. The Texas State Championship Fiddlers Frolics runs for three days on the fourth weekend of April.
